Originally broadcast on I/OU FM on January 6, 2012. The ‘cells’ of the piece are derived from either acoustic guitar or short wave signals. As many or as few of these cells may be combined, manipulated and repeated as desired, in any order, during each instance of a performance of 827. 827 is an attempt to mediate the dichotomous relationship between the states of "here" and "there"—that is, the controlled acoustic sounds of wire and a resonating box (the guitar), and the random electrical reception of distant transmission (the shortwave receiver). An element of nostalgia is present, as the original sounds were captured in our quaint, 1940's Cape Cod house, in Delmar, NY, from which we have since moved on.
